SAN JOSE – The SunPower Foundation today announced that it is teaming up with One Million Lights, a Palo Alto-based nonprofit that provides solar lighting to rural communities globally, to launch a solar education program for K-12 schools called One Million Students. The program provides educators with grade-appropriate curriculum structured to increase student understanding of how solar works and how it is being applied to generate clean, renewable energy in locations around the world.
Saturday, April 28, 2012. Awards totaling $28,050, provided by sponsor and organizer Do Good Docs Corporation, were shared by the top films, the high schools they represented, and their selected nonprofit organizations.

Partners in one of the most storied venture capital companies in Silicon Valley have agreed to give half their earnings to charity, starting with a combined $1 million gift to Bay Area charities. Andreessen Horowitz’s six general partners will donate half of the venture capital proceeds to philanthropic causes in their lifetimes, partner Ben Horowitz wrote in a blog post Wednesday.
Since the organization’s founding in 2006, MNRS has served approximately 11,000 homeless and extremely low-income schoolchildren across San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
